Our Meal Programs
We believe that good food is for everyone.
We make nourishing food accessible to all who are hungry through our five meal programs. We prepare meals that address general and special nutritional needs and provide them to the community via home delivery, food trucks, to-go, and congregate dining. Our registered dieticians, nutrition experts, and professional chef plan each meal to meet daily dietary and nutritional needs.
We welcome guests from the general population with no questions asked and provide tailored meals for those with specialized health needs.

Our meals programs are:
Community Meals
We provide hot and nutritious prepared meals seven days a week at serving sites in San Jose and Morgan Hill, and other community locations, including transitional shelters for homeless residents. We welcome all who are hungry to our Community Meals, no questions asked.
We provide more than 40,000 community meals per month.
We also partner with nonprofits at approximately 20 locations throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties to provide over 20,000 more prepared meals to guests at low-income senior retirement centers, community centers, schools, shelters, transitional housing, and after school programs.
Since we know that most people struggling to make ends meet don’t have regular access to affordable and nutritious meals, we make it our job to provide them with a full, healthy meal. We make sure our meals are well balanced with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy protein choices.
Meals on Wheels
Through our Meals on Wheels program we deliver fresh, nutritious meals straight to clients' homes, along with a friendly visit and a wellness check during delivery. Meals on Wheels brings vital services, including daily nourishment and regular connection, to homebound seniors and older adults living with disabilities, helping program participants to continue living independently in their homes.
Our meals meet one-third of the daily nutritional requirements for older adults. Clients can receive up to seven meals weekly. To qualify, clients must be 55 years of age or older, who – due to illness or disability – cannot buy food or cook meals for themselves, and who do not have someone to purchase food or cook meals for them on a consistent basis.
If you are interested in joining our program, or are a current client with questions, please contact Meals on Wheels at 408-961-9870 or MOW@loavesfishes.org.
Medically Tailored Meals
We provide Medically Tailored Food and Nutrition services to Medi-Cal clients who have chronic health conditions or who have recently been discharged from the hospital. Our Medically Tailored Meals and Medically Tailored Groceries are customized to support the nutritional and dietary needs required to manage specific health conditions.
Our Registered Dieticians approve the meals and groceries and provide each client with personalized nutrition assessments and education.
Santa Clara Family Health Plan refers clients for a variety of services, including Medically Tailored Meals, Medically Tailored Groceries, and Nutrition Education. These "Food is Medicine" services aim for better health outcomes and improved client satisfaction, and ultimately lower healthcare costs.

A La Carte Food Recovery Program
Through our A La Carte program, we recover and re-distribute prepared meals throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties where people face food insecurity.
We operate a fleet of trucks that safely transports surplus prepared and packaged food from corporate and university campuses, cafeterias, grocery stores, and catered events. We then bring our A La Carte Food trucks to schools and community locations to deliver the food directly to our neighbors in need. By offering a no-cost, convenient, and dignified experience, A La Carte helps individuals and families who are struggling with food insecurity.
This program unites for-profit companies, who generously donate excess food, with our nonprofit and public school partners who work tirelessly to nourish Silicon Valley’s food-insecure communities.
