Our Organic Farm grows food for the Loaves & Fishes kitchens. The produce is used in salad, soup and main dish preparations to augment the produce donated to Loaves & Fishes.
We had always worried that the vegetables donated were of secondary quality because they were donated as “past sell date” produce. Making salads was problematic, requiring throwing quantities of limp or nearly inedible produce in the recycle garbage bin.
Knowing our guests likes for fresh vegetables and our dislike of poor quality vegetables has given us the impetus to grow and deliver the freshest vegetables possible. The Organic Farm is only a two minute walk to the kitchen at Goodwill, ensuring fresh produce is delivered every day. Our other two locations are only twenty minutes away and are delivered by our trucks shortly after harvesting.
