About Loaves & Fishes

Mission: Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen commits to providing no cost, hot nutritious meals and support services in a dignified, safe and caring environment. We offer services to all in need, with a special emphasis on families, seniors and the homeless.

Vision: Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen aims to serve as many struggling individuals as possible with a focus on geographical areas of greatest need.

The organization was founded to fill a compelling community void: low-income families’ need for free, nutritious, hot food. Loaves & Fishes began with a simple meal of fish and bread for 11 adults and 15 children in February, 1980. Today Loaves & Fishes is one of the most respected and well-known safety net providers in Santa Clara County, serving and delivering over 4,000 prepared meals a week at multiple locations as far south as Morgan Hill and as far north as Palo Alto. In 2015 we will serve over 150,000 meals to those in need.

SV Gives 2015 Was an Enormous Success Thanks to You!!!

What a day!

On Tuesday, May 5, The Silicon Valley Community Foundation put together its second annual 24-hour extravaganza of giving back. Along with 862 other nonprofits, and the generous support of the community and sponsors, Silicon Valley Gives 2015 raised $7.8 million dollars in 24 hours. We witnessed an amazing showcase of our caring community, and the passion to join our causes.

To our supporters

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! With your generosity, we raised $17,100 during the 24 hours. That's almost double the amount we raised last year! Out of the 219 other nonprofits in our category, your support brought us right on the edge of being in the top 20 throughout the day. We cannot thank you enough for your contributions whether they came in the form of a donation, or even a retweet. Everything helped, and for that we are so grateful.

#SVGives Less Than a Week Away!

In 2015, our goal is to feed more than 180,000 individuals throughout the Bay Area.

Last year, we were successful in raising over $10,000 with the help of Silicon Valley Gives. Through our combined efforts, that money allowed us to reach two additional shelters for an entire year.

This is how you can help:
